About Me
I have lived in Lancaster, SC for the past five years, not just as a neighbor but as a dedicated educator and a believer in the power of service to my community. As the founder and Head of School at Marvin Academy Christian School in Waxhaw, NC, I prioritize honesty, loyalty, and perseverance in all aspects of my work. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Earth Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with additional studies in Geology and Secondary Education. I furthered my academic pursuits through graduate courses in Special Education and Curriculum and Instruction, accumulating 16 years of experience in diverse educational environments. Beyond the classroom, my passion lies in fostering intellectual curiosity and growth within the community, extending my dedication to instilling learning in students to a broader scale.
I am the fourth child out of seven siblings and have strong relationships with all of them. My husband and I have been married for ten years and we have an eight-year-old son. During my leisure time, I find joy in singing at church, playing musical instruments, engaging in sports activities, and cherishing moments with loved ones. Additionally, I play an active role in youth sports initiatives and hold the position of Secretary on the Waxhaw Athletic Association Board, advocating for the growth and well-being of young athletes.
My Priorities
Better Planning
There is ongoing discussions surrounding the rapid growth of Indian Land, but there is a noticeable absence of concrete plans to tackle this excessive growth. I am dedicated to actively participating in the effort to find solutions and guarantee their successful execution.
Overcrowded Schools
The issue of overcrowding in Indian land schools is well recognized and I am committed to seeking improved solutions for this problem. I will also advocate for the right of every parent to have more school options.
Transparency
Integrity and transparency are essential, but I strive to go beyond that. My objective is to educate and involve the residents of Lancaster County in understanding the inner workings of local government, encouraging active participation, and working together to improve Indian Land.
